비난받을 사람을 칭찬하고 또 칭찬해야 할 사람을 비난하는 사람, 그는 입으로 죄를 더하고 그 죄 때문에 즐거움을 누리지 못한다.

♠ The trifling is the sin that consists in losing riches by dice; this is a greater sin that corrupts the mind against sugatas.

도박으로 재산을 잃은 죄는 오히려 사소한 불행이다. 그러나 완전한 경지에 이른 사람에게 악의를 품은 죄는 아주 무겁다.

♠ He who speaks falsely goes to hell, or he who having done something says, “I have not done it both these after death become equal in another world they are both men guilty of a mean deed.

거짓말을 하는 자는 지옥에 떨어진다. 또 했으면서 안했다고 하는 자도 마찬가지다. 둘 다 똑같이 행동이 비열한 사람들이라, 죽은 후에는 같은 지옥에 떨어진다.

♠ Thou spreadest pollution to the misfortune of others, thou revilest the just, committing sin yourself and having done many evil deeds thou wilt go to the pool of hell for a long time.

남을 해칠 마음 없이 깨끗하고 더럽지 않은 사람을 미워하는 자에게는 반드시 그러한 악이 돌아온다. 바람을 거슬러서 먼지를 날리는 것처럼.

♠ For one’s deeds are not lost, they will surely come back to you, their master will meet with them, the fool who commits sin will feel the pain in himself in the other world.

그 어떤 업(業)도 멸하지 않는다. 그것은 반드시 되돌아와 그 임자가 그것을 받는다. 어리석은 자는 죄를 짓고 내세에서 그 괴로운 과보를 받는다.
